Throughout the month of November, Girl Who Reads will feature books from authors who are participating in National Novel Writing Month. These authors are attempting to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.

About the Book

That Kiss
Chloe Shepherd and Matt Masen have been best friends since they were kids. But when they share a passionate kiss after a high school graduation party, neither know exactly how to react.

Five years later, Chloe is just launching a successful career as a Broadway dancer when Matt gets a job at the exact same theatre!

Despite having not seen each other since that fateful night so many years ago, their spark is immediate-and overwhelming.

Incredibly naive, Chloe is still unsure of Matt's feelings for her. Any attempts to fight her growing attraction are immediately put to rest after a passionate confession leaves them both head-over-heels.

But soon obstacles threaten the happy couple in the form of Matt's vengeful ex-girlfriend and an eager outsider who wants nothing more than to make Chloe forget all about Matt. Can Matt and Chloe wade through the lies and find their way back to each other? Or is their relationship over before it can even begin?

Review: Designated Infected by Ricky Cooper

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading. Share a couple of sentences from your current read to wet the appetite of other readers.

A fast paced, heart racing story

Designated Infected

..... hung limply, his arms spread out, pinned in place by thick iron re bars. The solid lumps of iron stick through him like a pencil through paper. Blood pooled amongst the brass casings at what remained of his feet, his uniform hung in tatters; his body or what remained was shredded, the flesh peeled back from his bones like skin off a potato.

Review

In Ricky Cooper's Designated Infected, we follow a group of secret military agents who have been called on by the British royalty to protect its citizens from the outbreak of a deadly virus. The team soon realise that the "infected" are acting very similar to "zombies". The story kept me interested all the way through and i enjoyed the action and the gore. The characters are great and you can almost feel as though you are gearing up with them and heading into battle, my heart was racing and I was sometimes scared to turn the page!

I was very impressed with the experiments one of the characters was doing on these infected and on willing test subjects. I was engrossed in the descriptions of the virus and how it affects the human body.

With adrenaline pumping, fear and suspense I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good horror story, with a zombie theme.

Meet the Author: Yvonne K. Anderson (@VonniePuff)

by Heather Kirchhoff

What made you decide to start writing? Was this something you always thought you’d do?

I'm not sure. I think it was because I had so many ideas in my head and I needed a creative outlet. It wasn't something I always thought I'd do, but I'm glad I discovered that I'm pretty good at writing.

How do you come up with your characters or story ideas?

I mainly just go with where my brain takes me, so I'm not sure how to explain it. My imagination just goes wild.

How do you get inspired to write?

I listen to music.

What do you do while having writers block?

I listen to music and regather my mind.

What kind of stories do you write?

I usually write Fantasy novels, but right now I'm working on a Supernatural thriller type book.

Who are your favorite authors?

Definitely J.K Rowling and Christopher Paolini.

Thrill to Kill
How long have you been writing?

I've been writing since I was in grade 12, so about 6 years.

What are your stories about?

I have one on the go about fairies, one about vampires, another about ghosts and also one where it's a book inside a book.

What are you currently working on?

Death Toll: Hiding in the Shadows. It's the second book in the Death Toll series, the first being Death Toll: Thrill to Kill.

What do you do when not writing?

I play video games or draw Pokemon. I also read, camp, and do Karate.
