Hexy Beast is the third book of Avery Flynn's Sherwood Witches series. The last one covered Leona's story, and this one is Effie's, starting with her stealing Darius' motorcycle at the end of the prior novel. He chases her down and tries to steal the grimoire, and the two are tied together magically after leaving Leona. Effie appears next to Darius if they're separated too far, and it usually means he has to catch her when she falls out of the air. His second-in-command wants the alpha position, and a contest that occurs that very night pits every wolf against each other in a race. Darius and Effie, already physically attracted to each other, must work together to navigate the race.
I had wanted to see Effie's story, and it's as fun as I thought it would be. Passed over for the family magic, Effie sees herself as the good time girl, making videos for the witchy equivalent of Instagram. She doesn't take herself seriously and is impulsive. Darius is serious about being a leader. As opposites, of course, they complement each other in addition to being physically attracted. There are twists in the magical world that explain why Effie didn't inherit the Sherwood mantle, as well as the Council threat. Being a witchy romance novel, we have magic with our happily ever after, and an epilogue that includes teasers for the final two sisters' romances.
