This is the final book in The Heirs series, and I hate to say goodbye to the Stone family. I have really enjoyed all three books in the series - Book 1 concentrated on the oldest brother Chase, Book 2 concentrated on Max, the just found brother and Book 3 (this book) is about my favorite character - Alex the sister who has become a workaholic with no time for fun in her life.
Alex is running herself ragged as she sits at the helm of her deceased father's company Stone Enterprise. She's putting in long hours and rarely finds time to relax. Her brothers help a lot, but she is the CEO, and most of the work running the company falls on her shoulders. When a bomb threat is made on the entire building and she is the main target, her brothers decide that she needs protection. They hire Hawk to upgrade their security system and be Alex's bodyguard. Alex is used to running her own life, and having someone shadowing her all of the time is not the way she wants to live, but her brothers insist. As Alex and Hawk begin to spend more time together, sparks start to fly between them, but there are problems with that. She doesn't really have time in her busy schedule for a romance, and he believes that a bodyguard should never have a personal relationship with the person that he is guarding. When Alex decides to take her first vacation in two years, Hawk goes with her. Will being away from work help their relationship lead to a happily ever after?
This book had great characters -- Alex is a strong woman and wants to make sure that she is running the business so that no one loses their job. Her relationship with her brothers and sisters in law shows her softer side. Hawk is a very well-trained protector who has some baggage, plus he's ultra sexy. Right from their first meeting early in the book, I knew that they belonged together, but it took time for them to figure it out.
This book has a bit of everything that makes it enjoyable - a mystery that kept me turning pages, great, well-written characters, plus an explosive love story! This series is the first books that I've read by this author, and I enjoyed them so much that I plan to check out her backlist. She's that good!
NOTE: This is the third and final book in The Heirs series. The books need to be read in order for maximum enjoyment.
