The Queen Who Came in from the Cold

is the 5th book in Her Majesty the Queen Investigates series. I discovered this series when book 4 came out earlier this year. I really enjoyed A Death in Diamonds, so I decided to go back to the beginning. My library had the first book in the series. I didn't enjoy it as much. I don't know if it was because it was set in 2016 instead of the 1950s or if I just like Joan so much more.

So I debated reviewing the new book. But it is set in the 1960s, and Joan is still on staff, plus the title hints at espionage, which I love.

I'm still not sure if this is a series I will keep up with, but it was an interesting read. If you like to get a behind-the-scenes look at life in Queen Elisabeth's royal household, then this is definitely a book you will want to pick up. We learn a lot about the royal train.

With an unreliable witness and whispers of espionage, the mystery is not an easy one to solve. Joan and Queen Elisabeth have to be on their toes.

If you want a fun read that isn't about the holidays, you should check out this book.
