Penny and her twin sister Nix had been close their entire lives.  Five years ago, Nix died in a tragic accident, and Penny changed her life in memory of her sister.  She is now a rookie cop trying to make the world a better place because she knows that is what Nix would have wanted.  She talks to her sister in her mind constantly and blames herself for not preventing her sister’s death.  When she is called out to a murder scene, she realizes that the dead man is someone who started her sister’s downfall in life.  In her mind, she’s thrilled to see him dead but knows that she has a job to do.  When she investigates near the murder scene, she finds a woman with blood on her who tells her not to investigate, and she decides to let the woman go when she is told that this is a murder about her sister, and Penny is convinced that the woman is avenging Nix’s death.  Penny becomes obsessed with finding the woman again, even when she loses her job and becomes a suspect in the killing.  Penny’s search becomes dangerous for her, but she continues her search as her way of better understanding the connection between the killer and her sister.

I found this book to be a real page turner, especially towards the end.  The beginning was really slow, and I almost gave up on the book, but I’m glad that I kept reading.  The last half of the book is full of lies and deadly consequences.  I also had a difficult time liking the main character, but I appreciated that she was making all of her decisions based on what she felt her sister would have wanted, which I found kind of sad.  Overall, this was definitely a book worth reading.
