The Grumpy Frumpy Croissant
January 2021; Canoe Tree Press; 978-1735930824
ebook, print (36 pages); children
It is a cute little picture book about being grumpy and what you should do when you are angry with your friends. It is perfect for its target audience of children between the ages of 4 and 7 years old. That is the age where children are navigating friendships and feelings. They might not know how to express why they are upset with their friends or what to do when they are angry with their friends.

In The Grumpy Frumpy Croissant, Croissant feels likes his friends Toast and Scone are taking up too much space on the plate - leaving no room for him. Milk guides Croissant through steps that help him calm down, voice what is upsetting him, and how to reconcile with his friends.

In addition to learning social skills and encouraging literacy through reading together, this book also has some counting. You and your child can count along with Croissant, Toast, and Scone as they take 10 deep breaths.

There are other activities included for your child as well. Do you like baking with your child? There's a recipe for croissants that you can make together. And while you clean up the kitchen there are coloring sheets to keep your child occupied.

The illustrations are colorful and full page - sure to draw your child in. The story is broken up into short bits on each page that will help your child focus on the words as you read them which in turn will help them learn to read the words for themselves.

We all have grumpy days where we get angry over things people do. Help your child learn to manage their grumpies with this cute book.
