Review: Snow by Mike Bond

by Susan Roberts

Snow is my first book by Mike Bond but definitely not my last. It's a fast-paced thriller with well-written character that will keep you reading until the end.

ebook, audio, print (262 pages); thriller
Zack, a former NFL star, and Steve, a long time friend and Wall Street broker, are on their yearly hunting trip in the high country of Montana with their guide Curt when they find a downed plane that has two caskets in it that are both filled with cocaine. Zack and Steve, both hiding financial issues from each other, decide to take the cocaine to NY and Las Vegas to sell it and end their financial woes. Turns out that the cocaine belongs to a Mexican cartel who wants it back at any cost. Diego is working for the cartel and stops at nothing to get what he wants.

The book is set up around these 4 main characters, with lots of other strong secondary characters, and the reader learns not only about their crime but the reasons behind their crimes as well as learning about why Diego acts as he does. So even though all of them but Curt are criminals they come across as people who are caught up in the mistakes that they've made in the past, willing to do whatever they can to get their good lives back and not really sure of how they got where they are. The line between good and evil is definitely a blurred line in this novel.

I thought that this was an excellent book and plan to go back and read some of this author's earlier books.
