Mari is the matriarch of the D'Angelos family. She's been a widow for ten years, and her family of two sons and a daughter, plus two grandkids and two more on the way, is all settled and happy. She still runs the family restaurant along with her sons' help, but in reality, they handle most of the day-to-day cooking and management. She misses her husband, who was the love of her life, and overall, she is content with her life. Her best friend, Rosa, convinces her to try an adventure and take a singles cruise with her. She doesn't go on the cruise looking for love, but sometimes life has a different idea. She meets James and enjoys his friendship, and they have lots of fun on the cruise. The more they talk and get to know each other, the more their relationship deepens. When she gets home from the cruise, he comes to visit, and her sons get upset - they see no reason why their mother would ever want to be with someone else after being married to their beloved father. They see her as their mother and not as a woman who still deserves to have love in her life. Will she and James have a happily ever after, or will her sons ruin it for her?
This is a book about family and love, acceptance and forgiveness. It's great to read a book with an older main character who finds love the second time around.
NOTE: MAYBE ONE DAY is book five in The D'Angelos series. It can be read as a standalone with no confusion. It was interesting enough to make me want to read the first four books in the series and find out more about this family.
