I've read a lot of enjoyable books, but few that I would say were pure entertainment. Detour by Jeff Rake and Rob Hart is exactly that.
I don't know when I have enjoyed a book more.
Detour is the first book in a new science fiction adventure story. There is some mystery, and I think conspiracy stuff is going on, too. When I started the book, I thought that there might be a crime in space since a cop got added to the crew at the last minute. That's not the case. There is a much bigger thing going on. What that thing is - I don't know.
When I got to 80%, and it was clear that things were not going to wrap up, I remembered that Goodreads listed it as part of a series. Part of me is happy about this. Because it is a really good book and I don't want it to end, and I really like the characters. But the other part of me is screaming a bit because I NEED answers. When is the next book coming out?
I don't know what is going on. There is definitely something shady happening, but I'm not sure who the bad guys are exactly.
This is one of those books that you just buckle up and enjoy the ride. It is a great book for a long weekend or a vacation where you can sit and read for long stretches of time.
