Love cures all …
The first book in the Lilac Lake series isn't about one of the three sisters. Instead, it's a story about Crystal, the owner of the Lilac Lake Cafe. She has been friends with the three sisters for years, and their grandmother, GiGi, helped Crystal deal with an unhappy family life.
Crystal has seen her three best friends fall in love and become settled in their new lives. She is divorced but is still friends with her ex and is beginning to wonder if there is a happily ever after in her future. She's a bit restless and not sure how change it. Enter Emmet, the new town doctor who is taking over from the long-time doctor in town. He's just graduated and is looking forward to practicing family medicine in the small town. He buys the doctor's home and decides to do a lot of renovations. He asks Crystal, along with the sisters who have ties to building and decorating homes, for help. Crystal is very interested in Emmett, but he seems to be hiding a secret, and she values honesty, so she's unsure if they can have a relationship. Once she finds out the secrets that he's keeping and meets the family with whom he is estranged. She understands him better. Can Crystal and Emmet live happily ever after?
I've really enjoyed this series. The characters are all well-written, and the plots are very believable. It's great to meet more people in the town, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Love isn’t a game… or is it?
Melissa is a chef at her family's seafood restaurant in Lilac Lake. She puts a lot of hours into her job and, at 30 years old, is starting to look for more in her life. She has a lot of friends and sees them often, but maybe it's time to find someone special to fall in love with. She has decided that the new dentist in town might be the man of her dreams. When he continues to treat her like one of the group, she enlists help from her next-door neighbor and long-time friend Ross. Ross has returned to town after injuries ended his pro baseball career, and Melissa knows that she can talk to him about anything. When an accident happens between Ross and Melissa during a charity softball game, she feels responsible for injuring his knee. She decides that she'll take him to his rehab appointments and even fills his refrigerator with food. The more time they spend together, the more she wonders if he may be the man she needs. When they are both faced with calamities in their lives, they help each other through the bad times. Melissa has to make some decisions about the rest of her life -- which of the two men does she see a future with?
This is another great book in the series. It's great to see Melissa grow throughout the book and realize what is really important in life.

Love can make even the most fragile person bloom.
Misty returns home to Lilac Lake, where she grew up and where her sister, Crystal, still lives. She fled her marriage in Florida because her husband was emotionally and physically abusive. She lives her days afraid that he may find her and has informed the local police that it may be an issue. She hangs out with the group on Friday and finds lots of comfort from her friends. She is a teacher, and her teaching career is the most important aspect of her life at this point. One of the members of her friends group is David, who runs a local landscape company. He created a small garden in town in memory of his sister, and Misty visits there often to find mental peace from her past. David is interested in a relationship with her, but because of her past, she's very skittish and not really interested. When she learns that David is willing to create a relationship at her pace and not request anything that she doesn't want to do, she begins to wonder if she can leave her past behind and look forward to a future with David.
There are lots of characters from the previous books who make an appearance in this one. It's a fantastic series, and to enjoy it, you really need to read the books in order.
Book three from the Lilac Lake Inn series is a sweet small-town romance. Another of Judith Keim’s books about strong women facing challenges and finding love and happiness along the way.

Love's Harvest

Love's Harvest is another wonderful addition to this series about former residents who return to Lilac Lake, become friends again with their old friends, and find love.
Sarah returns to Lilac Lake with her four-year-old twins. She grew up there, and her parents own the local hardware store. Her husband died in a horrific way, and deep down she blamed herself and wondered if she could have done more to help him. Even after she sees Aaron - her high school boyfriend - she wants to just remain friends because she feels like she deserves better. She is busy taking care of her twins, working at the hardware store, and working through her nightmares of the past, and isn't looking for romance. Despite her negativity toward romance, the sparks quickly begin to fly between Sarah and Aaron. Will Sarah be able to work through her issues with the past and embrace a future with Aaron?
I really liked the characters in this book - especially Sarah, who had so many bad memories to work through and was smart enough to know that she needed outside help from a Grief group to help put her past behind her. Aaron was so patient and fantastic with Sarah's daughter, and they made a perfect couple.

It takes more than love to make a match...
Love's Match is a romance with two of the newer members from the group of friends who hang out together in Lilac Lake. Hazel is a teacher who gets let go from her job due to low enrollment plus she and the principal never agreed on anything. Her mother wants her to come back to where she grew up and marry the man that her mom has picked out for her. Hazel is happy in Lilac Lake but needs to get a job quickly so that her mom doesn't insist that she come back. She manages to get a job at the new sports center in town. The center is owned by a former baseball player and a tennis pro, Mike. She believed Mike to be a real playboy, but she learned what a great guy he was when she started helping a foster child who wanted to learn tennis. Instead of being critical of her, he agreed and did what he could to help Jed. When Hazel's mom decides to visit, Mike agrees to be her pretend boyfriend. But is he really pretending or are there real sparks between them? Will they get a happily ever after?
This is a sweet small-town story of a couple finding love while being surrounded by a number of good friends who do their best to help them find happiness. I have enjoyed all of the main characters in this series, and Hazel and Mike are two of my favorites.
This book can be read as a standalone, but do yourself a favor and read all of the books in the series. All of Judith Keim's books are fantastic as they look at strong women who face challenges and find a love full of love and happiness.
