Marissa Morgan has mostly given up on her acting career to keep life normal for her two children. When her ex-husband announces his high-profile engagement and a media storm ensues, Marissa and her kids flee Los Angeles for a summer at her recently inherited Poconos lake house. It needs renovation, and Marissa end up sharing space with the crew, including handsome foreman Jesse. Attracted, Marissa wonders if their fling could become something more.

Marissa wants to be a good mother, sheltering her children from the worst that Hollywood has to offer. Her son has autism, and his sensitivity to sounds and schedule changes means that going to Pennsylvania for the summer is rough on him. Both children still love their father and drop hints about Marissa and Rocky getting back together. She hid his infidelity and feckless nature from them, so he always got to be the "fun" parent while she did the heavy lifting. This summer, it's very different, and she gets a chance to make a connection with Jesse and make friends with his family, who work in the renovation company.
Both have their hurts from past relationships, but this is still a romance novel, so you know they'll work through it. I found it realistic in that there's no magic solution, and it takes time to realize when mistakes were made. Marissa stands up for herself, and Jesse realizes what truly matters to him.
It was a fun romance for the summer.
