by Susan Roberts

Ashley Farley has written a delightful series starring Blossom, a friend who shows up when she's needed the most to help women who are going through a struggle in their lives. Is she a good friend, or is she an angel??

If you haven't read this series, now is a great time to start it as a Christmas novella hits shelves today and the next book in the series comes out in January.

Return to Marsh Hollow

audio, ebook. print (218 pages); women's fiction

I've read and loved every book that Ashley Farley has written and am thrilled that she is starting a new series. The Soul Seekers series brings back the wonderful character of Blossom from a previous series. Is Blossom just a woman or an angel? She always manages to show up when she's needed the most to help women who are going through a struggle in their lives.

Lydia has stayed away from her family home in Marsh Hollow for over twenty years. She has no desire to have anything to do with her controlling and often cruel mother. When she gets a call that her mother has died and left the family home to her, she has to decide if she even wants to see the house again. She decides to leave her safe life in Virginia and travel back to the Chesapeake Bay area to fix up the family home and sell it. When she arrives, she finds the house is in worse shape than she remembered, plus it has been ransacked and is a total mess. After Blossom mysteriously shows up, she asks Lydia lots of questions and wants her to remember her past so that she can create a new future for herself and her art talent. She reluctantly agrees to start working on the house, and a neighbor who is a contractor starts to help her. Soon he becomes more than a worker - he becomes a friend and really wants to become more than a friend. As Lydia finds the answers to many of the secrets that had colored her past memories, she has to decide if she wants to stay in Marsh Hollow.

The author has done a fantastic job of telling the story by moving seamlessly from Lydia's past to the present day. Blossom helps Lydia discover the past secrets of her family so that she can move forward to a happy life without her past memories. Lydia is a fascinating main character, and Blossom is once again a wise woman who helps Lydia find her happiness.

You can always depend on Ashley Farley to write a meaningful story about women facing life's challenges as they find the grace and resilience to make changes in their lives.

Where Light Lingers

book cover of women's fiction novel Where Light Lingers by Ashley Farley

audio, ebook, print (198 pages); women's fiction

Selwyn has taken care of her parents for the last six years, and now they have both died and left her alone in the house she grew up in. With her life on hold for so long, she doesn't have friends or anyone to talk to, and her grief at the loss of her parents is overwhelming. Her mother's once beautiful gardens are in shambles, and she decides to try to bring the garden back in remembrance of her mother. She goes back to teaching at the University but finds that most of the students aren't interested. There is one student who appears to really enjoy her class. She's pregnant and having trouble in life, and Selwyn offers her help. Another young woman suddenly appears in her life, and she opens up her home to her too.

When Selwyn is at her lowest and trying to distinguish flowers from weeds in her mother's garden, she cries out for help. Soon Blossom, the angelic visitor from previous books, shows up to help her in the garden, as well as offering help and advice on how to navigate her new life without her parents. There are some setbacks on her journey to finding happiness and contentment in her life, and some family secrets are revealed, and Blossom is there to offer love and encouragement every step of the way.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought Selwyn was well written as grief consumed her thoughts. My favorite character was Blossom - her wisdom and advice were just what Selwyn needed. I'm looking forward to future books in this series and spending time with Blossom as she shares her angelic wisdom with women who need her help.

Season of Grace

book cover of Christmas novel Season of Grace by Ashley Farley
October 2026; Ahf Publishing; 978-1969777363
audio, ebook, print (120 pages); holiday fiction

A chance encounter. A baby left behind. A Christmas miracle no one saw coming.

Season of Grace is a Christmas story that shares love and joy with the help of Blossom – an angel who manages to show up when a woman needs her the most.

It’s the Christmas season in New York City, and Thelma, a homeless woman who travels through the streets of the city early every morning, is on her normal walk collecting treasures.  Things that may be considered trash to some people can be used by other people, and Thelma’s main goal in life is to help other people.  As she walks, she meets someone who is ringing a bell on a busy street and offering Christmas joy.  Thelma doesn’t remember ever meeting Blossom but feels like Blossom knows her deepest thoughts and feelings.  In another part of town, Ellie, a TV meteorologist, is losing her job to a younger and prettier woman.  She realizes that it may be time to make changes in her life – she always wanted to be a mother, and her job got in the way.  Plus, she begins to wonder what kind of a job would make her happy.  Further in the city is a young girl who is homeless and has a small baby.  She knows that she can’t take care of the baby but doesn’t want to let it go. When a huge snowstorm basically shuts the city down, Thelma, Ellie, and the young mother experience a Christmas miracle that is beyond their dreams.  Is Blossom the reason that everyone got their happily ever after?

This story is a short novella that packs a big punch and will have you looking forward to the joy of the Christmas season.
