This series takes place in 1988, so the group of widows is solving crimes without the help of cell phones, computers, or AI, which makes it all pretty interesting.  This time they end up in big trouble while they try to find Meredith, a member of their group who has been kidnapped, before something happens to her.

The core widows Krystle, Justine, Camille, and Meredith are all wealthy and over the top.  They rush into danger with no regard for their safety if one of them is in danger.  Their friendship is the basis of their lives, and they spend their fast-paced days worrying about each other and taking dangerous chances to solve crimes – even if they break a few rules along the way. 

The women were thrown together three years earlier when a plane crash killed their husbands.  The women are all very different but quickly band together to find the real truth behind the suspicious crash.  The widows are Justine, a former fashion model adjusting to suburban life; Camille, a beautiful, young second wife some suspect is a gold digger; Krystle, committed to leaving the firm to her sons after her husband worked his whole life to support them all; and Meredith, a stripper at the local club who was in a secret relationship with the firm’s sole female partner.  In the new book, Meredith is kidnapped by a trio of Irish bank robbers led by a female - Grace.  To save Meredith, the widows find themselves breaking out of jails and into graveyards, chasing the ghosts of indentured servants, and racing through the pirate tunnels under Providence.  

It’s a real page-turner of a book while the reader wonders whether their friendship will help them out or whether the challenges they face will end their friendship.

Three well-known suspense writers - Kimberly Belle, Vanessa Lillie, and Cate Holahan – have worked together to write this series.  Their writing flows well, and there is no indication in the writing that it was written by more than one author – which has to be difficult!

Wicked Wanted Widows is the third book in the Young Rich Widows series and can be read out of order with no problems.  This is the first book that I’ve read in this series.  I did enjoy book three and plan to go back and read the first two books in the series.  The series consists of:
