Review: A Cold and Lonely Place by Sara J. Henry

A Cold and Lonely Place
I have another book that I've been looking forward to telling you about. I really lucked out during Christmas with some great reads and A Cold and Lonely Place was one of the very best. Sara J. Henry is a new author to me, though she has a previous book in the Troy Chance series. (Some how I've gotten a lot of second books without having the read the first).

When I was contacted about reviewing A Cold and Lonely Place, I knew it would be the perfect winter read and I was not wrong. It's not quite a cozy mystery, but it is not a gripping thriller either. It was, well, perfect. Henry found the right balance for an entertaining vacation read. The only thing that would have made this a better read would have been reading it in front of a roaring fire at a ski lodge.

Henry's writing had a element of beauty to it. Like an untouched snowy landscape. It flowed wonderfully and drew you into the story so you felt like you were part of the story. The characters came to life and you may find yourself wishing you could join them at the local pub. Though the story starts with a death in ice, there is a feel good vibe as Troy investigates what happened. There are a number of bittersweet moments as secrets are discovered and the walls people build around them are broken down.

I'm so glad there is another book in the Troy Chance series because I want more of Sara J. Henry. And though that is book one, I didn't feel out of the loop reading A Cold and Lonely Place (book 2). Henry is definitely an author I will put on my watch list as I don't want to miss any more of her books.
