Every Little Thing by Kay Bratt ~ a Review

by Susan Roberts

Hart's Ridge is a fantastic series by Kay Bratt. It is about Taylor Grey, who is a female police deputy in a small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Books 1 - 12 look at issues with Taylor, her family, her friends and her job on the police force.  The author has decided to continue the series with a big change.  In Book 13, Taylor no longer works for the police department and is a private investigator. But before we get book 13 (it comes out tomorrow), here is my review of book 12. If you haven't read this series yet, be sure to check out my reviews of books 1 - 10 and book 11.

A fairytale wedding in Mexico.
Everything is supposed to be perfect.
What could possibly go wrong?

This is another page turner that is about Taylor and one her sisters.  I love the way that the author manages to combine dual plots into her stories and keeps them both exciting.  I don't know how many more books will be in this series but I'm sure not ready to give up on Taylor and her family.

Taylor and Sam go to Mexico to a destination wedding.  Instead of being a fun trip, the bride and her family are rude to Taylor and her family.  Despite the rudeness, Taylor and her family try to have a good time until the day after the wedding when they find out that the bride and two of the bridesmaids have disappeared.   The Mexican police and hotel management are little to no help so Taylor takes charge of the investigation to try to find the three women before it's too late.

While the search for the missing bride is going on, the book also follows Lucy.  She has left home and her small son and is wandering around the country trying to stay hidden from whoever she thinks is following her while trying to outrun her memories of the past and the voices in her head.  When she finally comes up with a plan, she ends back where her worst memories started.  Will she ever be able to find her way back home to her family?

This entire series has been fantastic.  Each book in its own way looks at the importance of family and trust for each other.  There is a surprise at the end of this book that indicates that there may be more books ahead in this series.
