audio, ebook, print (336 pages); domestic thriller

Avery Chambers is a therapist and has developed a strategy that will cure her patient's problem in ten sessions no matter what their problem is.  She is no longer a licensed therapist due to some illegal practices in the past but that doesn't stop her.  She is committed to her patients and is snarky and absolutely confident that her ten-session cure is the best therapy for every person and every problem.

When her new clients walk in the door she is impressed by the apparent golden couple - they are rich, dressed well, and have an aura of confidence.  Marissa and Matthew appear to have a happy marriage and a wonderful life.  The reason behind their need for therapy is that Marissa feels the need to tell Matthew that she'd slept with another man -- some guy from the gym and it was only once.  Matthew is furious and doesn't even want to look at his wife.  Why would she do this after over 10 years of a happy marriage?  But...is everything the way it seems or are they both hiding secrets from Avery, from each other, and from themselves?  Avery starts her undercover work to find out more about them and she remains sure that they aren't both telling the truth but can't figure out what the truth really is.

This is a tight, well-plotted story that will keep you on the edge of your seat while you race to the end to find out the real truth.  Once I started it, I didn't want to put it down.  Matthew and Marissa are well written as the perfect couple but what made her sleep with another man if she is truly in love with Matthew?  Avery is a fantastic kick-ass therapist.  Her research methods are different than any other therapist and she is often close to the line of being illegal but she gets the job done. I really enjoyed Avery as a character and would love to see her in future books by this amazing duo of writers.

This is my first book by this writing duo and I need to go back and read some of their earlier books.  Be sure to start this when you have lots of time to read because you won't want to stop reading until the surprising ending.  I highly recommend it.
