While I haven't played the game, I was eager to look at the art and concepts in it. The book designers also put in enough about the story as it relates to the characters and locations that I can piece together how it works. I liked how it was arranged, with the complete sets of gear, pets, or alternate loot arranged so you can see the differences in designs. The details in the in-game books and codes are reproduced here, and I can see how much effort went into the art, overall design, and story for the game.
The book is divided into sections based on the year, with the new developments and art added to the game shown. It's a lovely book and bound to appeal not only to fans of the game but to those who enjoy art and pirates. It will be helpful to artists and writers seeking inspiration as well.
