One Killer Night is a combination of a steamy love story and a slasher film. The author describes it as "sexy slasher filled with dark family secrets, classic horror tropes, and banter as sharp as a deranged killer’s knife.
Since the story begins and ends at Halloween, it's a perfect November read.
Goldie meets Noah at a Walgreens on Halloween while she is in a dinosaur costume and looking for fake blood for her sister. Sparks between the two of them start as soon as they lock eyes with each other. She invites him to a Halloween party, and their relationship heats up fast and hot. The chapters alternate between Goldie and Noah, and even as they are falling in love and moving in together, there are small hints that Noah has a past that he doesn't want to share with anyone. When Noah is ready to propose a year later, Goldie finds out that he has been lying to her and disappears. She and her sister go to a 'slasher camp' for Halloween, and that's when all of the secrets come to light -- a few I expected, but the big secret about Noah's past was a major surprise (at least for me).
The main characters were well written - there was a lot of fire between them despite the secrets, and their relationship was very hot and sexy. Noah's best friend and Goldie's sister provided some comic relief, along with being dedicated to helping out their 'person', no matter what danger was involved. This was a rom/com based on the romance between the two main characters, along with being a very scary book based on the mystery and the ending. If you like romance with a bit of murder or prefer a hot couple facing a knife-wielding stalker, this is the book for you.
