Despite the snowy cover and "season" in the title A Season of Second Chances is not a Christmas story. It does take place during the off-season in a small seaside village in England and there are a few fall and winter holiday celebrations. Even though "second chances" in the title would make you think this is a romance, it is actually more of women's fiction.

But if you are looking for something more serious, something more focused on the true reason for Christmas, then you will want to pick up this book.

The busy holiday season is upon us, and if your go-to self-care escape is reading, short stories can be a great option to give you a quick time out without taking up too much of your already too little time. I'm super picky when it comes to short stories and I sometimes find police procedurals a bit boring, but I'm glad that I picked up Her Second Death by Melinda Leigh.
