Home at Last by Judith Keim ~ a Review

 by Susan Roberts

"Staring out at the rolling hills and the rows of grapevines, devoid of their fruit after the harvest, she saw the goodness of the land, it's beauty, and most of all, the comforting prospect of more harvests to come. She   thought of this continuity of life as a renewal of her own." (p 1)

It was wonderful to go back to the Chandler Hill Inn and read the conclusion of this wonderful series.  The setting in the vineyards in Willamette Valley is beautiful.  The characters are well written and since this is the last book in the series, I'm going to miss them.

Home at Last is about Lulu.  Her father was a politician who had just died.  After his death, she found out that she had a sister that she never knew about so to get away from the political scandal that happened after his death, she decided that she wanted to meet her sister and was thrilled that her sister and family met her with open arms and offered her a job at the Inn if she wanted to stay.  As she handles marketing for the winery, she finds out that she's happier than she's ever been and thrilled to be part of her new large family.  When she is called back home to help deal with her mother's increasing depression, she finds out how much she misses her new family and can't wait to get back. Plus she has a potential romance to deal with.  She finds herself getting close to Miguel even though she feels like he's involved with many other women.    Will she have a happily after ever with Miguel?  Will she continue to find happiness and acceptance at Chandler Hill Inn??

This book is a fantastic ending to this series.  The characters are well written and likeable and the scenery at the vineyards make you want to take a vacation there.  I have really enjoyed getting to know this family and will miss reading about them again.

This is a fun interesting series and would be great to read while we are all 'sheltering in place' with the pandemic.

“Together we can do anything."
