Five Memorable Mothers in Fiction

by Donna Huber

Today is Mother's Day in the U.S. so I thought it would be fun to take a look at some memorable fictional mothers in literature. If you can't spend the day with your mother or you want to spend your day with other awesome (if fictional) mothers, then check out this list. And even if it isn't Mother's Day in your country, these are great books you'll want to add to your TBR list.

Can You Solve the Mystery in These Two Twisting Thrillers?

by Donna Huber

Do you like being able to solve the mystery before the characters or are you just along for the thrilling ride? These two thrillers had a lot of twists and turns making it almost impossible to guess what happened. One had me on the edge of my seat the entire time and the other had me singularly focused on the story.

Two Terrific Thrillers to Move to the Top of Your TBR List

by Donna Huber

I enjoy the traditional beach reads that are hitting shelves already but I really love reading gritty thrillers in the summer. I recently read two that are just terrific and would be great for summer reading. If you haven't picked them up yet, you will want to move them to the top of your to-be-read list.

Getting Caught Up With My Reading

by Susan Roberts

With more time spent at home due to the Covid crisis, I have had a chance to read some of the books on my shelf.  I spent the first two months of the stay at home order unable to read much but since then I am reading constantly - probably because there is nothing on TV this summer and I have quit watching the news so my TV rarely even gets turned on.  I have been reading several different genres and here are reviews of the last four books that I've read.

The New Husband by D.J. Palmer ~ a Review

by Donna Huber

It was a chilly predawn morning when Anthony Strauss eased Sweet Caroline, his seventeen-foot Boston Whaler, from the trailer into water so dark it was indistinguishable from the sky. To the east, the rising sun raced along the riverbank, igniting the shoreline of Lake Winnipesaukee in a buttery glow. Anthony cast his lure about twenty feet out and was beginning to slowly reel in his line when he noticed a fellow boater some forty yeards off his starboard. (p. 1)

Two Books about Sick Children

by Susan Roberts

I try to stay away from books about sick children because I hate to see them suffer and somehow, I ended up reading two in a row.  Their illnesses are very different as is the outcome of the novels but I recommend both of them.

by Donna Huber

If you only read one book this year, Saving Meghan should be it. It is a great thriller.
