The Moonglow Sisters by Lori Wilde ~ a Review

by Susan Roberts

"Townsfolk called them the Moonglow sisters... They bore the noble heritage of the town's founding family, Chapman by blood, if not by label.  Descending from the town's original forbearers lent them prestige, heft and mythological clout.  And they were orphans, having lost both mother and father, banding together in a tight little unit, watching after and taking up for one another despite the six year age difference between oldest and youngest, they went everywhere together."  (p 8)

The Moonglow Sisters is a book about sisters. Despite the fact that they were very close growing up, after an incident at one of their weddings, they all went separate ways and haven't spoken to each other in over 5 years.  They were raised by their grandmother after the death of their parents and since the grandmother is facing potential life-threatening health problems, her main goal is to have her granddaughters be part of each other's lives again.  But is it possible after 5 years that she can even get them in the same place and talking to each other or is it too late for reconciliation?

The three sisters were raised at Moonglow bed and breakfast that was run by their grandmother.  A major health scare brings the girls back to Moonglow Cove to take care of their grandmother.  The sisters are Maddie who lives in NYC and has her own TV show has worked very hard to attain her success.  She holds a major grudge towards her sisters and is the rule-maker of the family;  Shelly, a free spirit left to travel the world and no one is even sure where she's been or what has happened in her life;  the baby of the family was Gia.  She was the one sister who stayed in Moonglow Cove and was the peacemaker in the family who wanted everyone to get along.  When these three get together, the sparks fly and it doesn't look there's any chance of them becoming friends again but as their grandmother's health gets worse, they find themselves working together to take care of her and to renovate the bed and breakfast that had been in the family for so long.  Will they be able to forgive and become sisters again?

As the oldest of three sisters, I thought that the sisters were well written and true to life and I was rooting for their reconciliation. This book was a light and easy read with mostly predictable situations but it was a real 'feel good' story with a happy ending that left me feeling happy that I'd read it.
