Review: In an Instant by Janae Mitchell

As I sat on Bri's window seat, pretending to read, I couldn't help but watch the pool below, and how Kaden couldn't seem to keep his hands off of Brooke. I couldn't blame him, though. If I was a guy, I'd probably have a hard time keeping my hands off her, too.

The Review

We meet Emersyn, she has been in love with her best friends brother, Kaden, for years. But he has always seemed to like her only as a little sister. Everyone else can see that she is in love with him apart from Kaden.

They spend most days together with his sister, Emersyn's best friend, at their house, growing closer and closer. But only as friends, like brother and sister.

Then everything changes, Kaden is in a life threatening motorcycle accident and loses multiple limbs. Due to internal injuries the doctors are not sure he will survive and Emersyn decides to tell him how she feels, he says it back but she is not sure if it is because he is high on medication or if he means as a sister so she just a take it that way.


An intense emotional roller coaster this story brought me to tears. It is extremely well written and will have the reader experiencing all of the emotions with the characters as if they were part of the story. If too enjoy stories about overcoming huge obstacles, first loves, the inner strength of some peoples will never to give up, to keep fighting for the life they have then this is the story for you. This is one of the best stories I have read all year.

Review: Feels Like Rain by Janae Mitchell

I hate funerals. I guess most people feel that way, but not to the degree that I do. Not only did I have my own grief to deal with, but also the grief of everyone who's sitting around me. With it being an outdoor funeral, I though it might dilute their feelings enough to be tolerable, but it didn't. It's at times like this that I hate my unique abilities. Sometimes being able to sense people's emotions is a bit of a perk, but this wasn't one of those times.

The Review

A spin off from the Janae Mitchell's For Always series, you can read Feels Like Rain alone, but I do recommend the series first.

A rich family has moved into town and is trying to buy all of the farmers' land, including Reed's and Rainbeau's. So far Malyn and Beau, Jet's parents have managed to keep hold of their land and businesses but are fed up with the constant harassment. So Jet is shocked when the daughter of this family comes to talk to him to offer her condolences and is surprised to find that she is genuine and that he actually likes her.

Jet is different from other people and doesn't like to be around them as he is an empath. He can feel what everyone else is feeling which causes him to distance himself from others. But when he starts to spend more time with Kali he starts to fall in love with her and knows that she loves him just as much.

Then Jet gets framed for blowing up a factory and goes to prison and Kali has to decide whether to believe  him or just to walk away and forget about their time together.

I was really excited to receive Feels Like Rain as I have read the For Always series and they are fabulous books. This one didn't disappoint and there were some very emotional scenes in this story that made me both laugh and cry.

I loved the characters, as always, Janae will make you love them or hate them depending on who they are.

I didn't want the story to end and am calling for another spin off from this book!


Recommended to all who love a good coming of age story with love, lust, hurt, and happiness.

I'm a fan of Diet Sunkist and salt & vinegar pork rinds, both usually sitting by my computer when I'm writing. Oh, and I love salted pecans... and grilled chicken salads from Zaxbys. I enjoy being on the lake (I think the song "On a Pontoon" was actually written about me), playing tennis, and watching football (i.e. Peyton Manning, TN Titans & Vols). My blood runs orange...except for when I cut myself, and then it's that ugly Bama color. I love music, often listening to it when I write; Crossfade, SafetySuit, 30 Seconds to Mars, Sirius XM (80's, 90's, or Hits). I sometimes dance, too, just not well.
